Paradise Now!
Saturday, August 21, 2010 White Slab Palace sam hamilton (NZ) / metal rouge (LA) / dalot / driphouse / matthew mcauley / doom trumpet / anavelyse / david burnstein / jack kubizne / suzette m lee Opalnest Art is pleased to present Paradise Now! An evening of live music, visuals, performances and installations. In the middle of this sweltering madness, what could be better than falling into an ocean of ambient droned-out beats, synthed cords, electro-acoustics with improvised soundscapes and hallucinated visuals. Banding human gestures and local surroundings the night happens right in the heart of the Lower East Side. Paradise Now! – Organized in a heartbeat, is a one-night performance event with special guests Sam Hamilton (New Zealand) who plays mystic futuristic fun vibes, and Metal Rouge (LA) molding the sounds of ecstatic jazz and the drugged stasis of NYC loft minimalism circa ’66.
Passing en-route into New York City they will continue their summer tour of the States. The night keeps rolling to include local talents such as experimental electronic sound artist Dalot, spacey synth-pop music artist Driphouse, experimental saxophonist Matthew Mcauley, and the new-aged psychedelic soloist Doom Trumpet. Emerging performance artist David Bernstein will collaborate with instrumentalist Matthew Mcauley on a site-specific improvised act. Poet, writer, and DJ Anavelyse will simply inspire the audience by exchanging gestures. The White Slab performance space will be completely drowned out tonight by Jack Kubizne’s mystical fantasy live visual projections and Suzette M Lee’s lightbox flares. curated by Helen Homan Wu
