Patrick Gantert

Patrick Gantert is an artist and curator living and working in Brooklyn, NY. His work employs spoken word performance, drawing, and installation.

Gantert’s performances mix elements of cultural and institutional criticism, personal narrative, history, and popular culture. At a basic level, his fast paced spoken word performances seek to locate forms of order in seemingly disparate systems. For this exhibition, he will present a selection from a larger, forthcoming performance to take place in the summer of 2013. This selection will focus specifically on the concept of distance, incorporating a verbal deconstruction of transit based graphic design and extreme distance running (among other things) that exposes their inherent failures as a kind of anti-failure.
