Artcards and Printed Matter presents Editquette – a live visual-sonic performance curated by Opalnest for the 2012 Armory Arts Week. Tonight, double worlds collide as Tokyo-based artist Hiraku Suzuki (Tokyo, JP) and Julien Langendorff (Paris, FR) will perform live in collaboration with composer–improviser Loren Connors (NYC). Besides experiencing a hypnotic post-rock performance, audiences will be able to capture the act of live–drawing, editing, and collaging–a special happening sparked by the two visual artist.

Praised by The New Yorker as “the gentle avant-blues guitar master”– composer-improviser and guitarist Loren Connors’ singular adaptation of the blues is a distinct personal vision combining the Delta bottleneck sound and the ancestral blues voice (appearing as distortion, baying hounds or multi-tracked guitar), with hauntingly unexpected sounds. Outside of Connors’ three decades of solo work, he has collaborated with Suzanne Langille, Jim O’Rourke, Darin Gray, Alan Licht, Christina Carter, Keiji Haino, San Agustin, Jandek and many others, as well as leading the group Haunted House. His newest solo CD recording, “Red Mars” has recently been issued by the Family Vineyard record label, and a vinyl LP recording by his Haunted House band, “Blue Ghost Blues”, was recently released by the Northern Spy record label. He lives in Brooklyn, NY.

Julien Langendorff was born in Paris, France. He has exhibited in galleries in Paris, New York, Tokyo and Berlin. He currently resides in NYC. His work combines paper cut-outs, writings, films and collages of 1970’s imagery and often conjures up dark, dream-like visions influenced by gothic and hippie cultures, Black Sabbath, spiritism and diary-art. Langendorff’s work is both minimal and psychedelic with a free, stream of conscious sensibility.
