The Parasitic Fantasy Band / Apr 14, 2009
Performance

ISSUE PROJECT ROOM, Brooklyn (NY)

Live ephemeral expanded cinema and ecstatic 16mm/8mm film and sound performances in association with "Seeds of the Wild". Special guest artists Sam Hamilton and Eve Gordon from NZ. Sam and Eve first collaborated on the direct film, "Two Vivid Animations, (fuck horizontal and vertical or backwards)," exploring ideas around sound and image co-existing with equal import, and being able to create gut reactions with abstract sound and light. From there they quickly expanded their experiments from pre-made cinema-style film, through slide projector performance to multi 16mm film projector performances.

'Seeds' are new works by a flourishing group of artists from all over the world, portraying the roots of human nature, mythology, folklore, medicinal animals, wilderness, the micro/macro cosmos etc., while triggering a sense of being reconciled with nature. In today's globalised world, we are constantly in front of a screen. Time exists in a whole new dynamic. We structure and synchronize our schedules to the second, and are constantly being fed with instant information from all types of media. 'Seeds' artists pulls the viewer out of this context and places one in a cocoon of timeless tales, as if storytelling in the ancient manner, through the reflection of experiences, teachings of animals, and meditations on nature.
